Customer Experience

At Patientco, we are building the future of healthcare payments.  We now facilitate payments for over 5% of the US patient population which means our technology is helping create a better payment experience for over 23 million patients and in turn, providing incredible value to healthcare providers across the U.S.

As a Software Engineer for our ‘Portals’ team, you will be working full-stack to build our user-facing web applications.  Our software helps to fix the broken payment experience in the healthcare industry by providing clarity, transparency, and flexibility.  We look for people who care deeply about how users interact with their software and how teams communicate to collectively get products shipped.

At Patientco, we are building the future of healthcare payments. Our technology is helping create a better payment experience for patients and in turn, providing incredible value to healthcare providers across the U.S.  Whether you are customer facing or working diligently behind the scenes, everyone at Patientco plays a vital role in improving the healthcare experience of millions of people. It’s a big job, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

As a Software Engineer at Patientco, you should care deeply about how your software is experienced. This means considering how both healthcare patients and providers use your products and how your peers will interact with your code.

Your experience should include having built and -- equally important -- maintained widely-used software. You should have a knack for making tools powerful without compromising their ease of use.

You should enjoy variety (and we aren't just referring to the food and drinks we keep stocked in our kitchen), as you should expect to move up and down the software stack. You will be writing the code that powers our payments engine, digging deep into the back-end to write and tune SQL and dabbling in the client-side JavaScript, HTML and CSS of our web app.

Our Application
Patientco is a web-based healthcare payments platform built primarily with object-oriented PHP, Golang and JavaScript (including multiple frameworks) - our team members have backgrounds in PHP, Java, .Net and Ruby.
We move quickly, deploying code many times a week, but we also spend time carefully thinking through the edge cases of our products.

This is a Co-Op opportunity for current college students only who attend a school that provides academic credit for participating in the alternating 3-term program. If you are no longer in school, please consider our full-time Software Engineering opportunities.

At Patientco, we are building the future of healthcare payments. We now facilitate patient payments for 5% of the US population which means our technology is helping create a better payment experience for over 21 million patients and in turn, providing incredible value to healthcare providers across the U.S.

We're looking for a 3-Semester Software Engineer Co-Op who wants to make a difference at a fast-growing Healthcare IT startup.  We run an agile development team with weekly sprints to quickly deliver code to our clients. Our team prides itself on rapid development, so as a Co-Op, your code will make it to production many times during your term. That's right, at Patientco, our Co-Ops actually push code into production.

The Opportunity
We're looking for Co-Ops to begin the alternating 3-semester Co-Op program at various terms in 2021. Please apply if you're interested in beginning in either the Spring or the Summer of 2021.

As a Co-Op, you will be like any other Software Engineer on the team. We expect you to design, develop and test new features and enhancements on our platform. To do that, you'll work with peers, a Team Lead, the Director and VP of Engineering along with the wider business to build web-scale products.

Working knowledge of Linux, MySQL and/or any object-oriented design (PHP, Java, .Net, Ruby) is a plus. But if you're missing one of those and you're super smart, we'll teach you what you need to know!
